Road closer from Lower Chandmari to Midland
KOHIMA: The road from lower Chandmari to Midland would remain close due to repair of work from May 14 till the completion of work. The public have therefore been requested to bear with the inconvenience caused till the repairing of road was completed.
Plea to chief engineer (R&B)
DIMAPUR: Nagaland Contractor and Supplier Union (NCSU) has appealed to the chief engineer (R&B) to release Special Plan Assistance (SPA) fund. The NCSU in a release issued by R. Sanen Longkumer requested the chief engineer (R&B) to release the SPA fund in which 50% CD was deposited during the current financial year.
DMC plea for aid
DIMAPUR: Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) advisory committee has appealed to business community and well wishers of Dimapur town to contribute clothes and essential commodities for victims of Mao Gate incident. In this regard, DMC chief advisor, Er. K. Keditsu has informed that DMC advisory committee members would be conducting a door-to-door collection on May 13 from 10 am onwards.
CTC trade license renewal
DIMAPUR: Chumukedima Town Council (CTC) has notified all business establishments/firms/agencies/mills that renewal and issue of trade license would commence from May 17 between 10am to1pm. CTC administrator, Henok Buchem has informed those who have not renewed or registered/obtained trade license to do so before May 28, failing which, CTC would be taking necessary action as per provision of law.

Stolen bike recovered
DIMAPUR: Based on some reliable inputs, a stolen bajaj pulsar motor bike (black) was recovered by the police on May 11 around 9 pm from MST complex and one person identified as Heto Awomi was arrested by the police. (Staff Reporter)

Zeliangrong convention postponed
DIMAPUR: The proposed Zeliangrong convention 2010 scheduled to be held on May 20 has been postponed due current situation in Manipur on the matter of Naga leader’s entry to Manipur state and the blockage of road and communication in parts of Zeliangrong land in Manipur. Zeliangrong Interim Body( ZIB) in its emergency meeting with Zeliangrong Baudi(N) on Thursday resolved to unconditionally defer the proposed convention until further consultation and meeting in regard to convention was called.
WTAH general meeting
DIMAPUR: The general meeting cum election of new office bearers of Wokha Town Akuk Hoho (WTAH) has been convened on May 15 at Community Hall Molonsu colony, Wokha town. DWO on supply of ‘aids’
MOKOKCHUNG: All the differently abled persons who have registered for artificial support systems like hearing-aids, tricycle, walking stick, crutch elbow, etc on February 6 last at town hall, Mokokchung have been informed to collect the items from the office of the District Welfare Officer (DWO) Mokokchung latest by May 31. According to DWO, Mokokchung, T. Imkong Longkumer has stated that support systems supplied from ALIMCO Guwahati will be available till May 31. The DWO further stated that after the deadline, the unclaimed items will be disposed off to other needy persons.
Relief committee formed
DIMAPUR: An emergency meeting held on Wednesday at Jalukei Town hall resolved to form relief committee for Manipur displaced Naga families. The meeting was chaired by K. Akhang President Zeliangrong Baudi, Pausuigumbe Lungalang sitting secretary the following resolution. Relief committed include convenor- Rampaukai (forest ranger officer Jalukei), secretary- Pausuigumbe Lungalang (general secretary ZSUN) and treasurer- Rangkau (advisor Jalukei town council). Committee members include Namyi (PTC advisory board member), Dikai (President NZYO). Tening town Adhoc. Committee v/c), Adai (JVWO), Joshua (member, Zeliangrong baudi). Amang (PTC advisory board member) and Kainia (G.B union President).
CTC fixes rate of meat items
DIMAPUR: Rate of meat items under Chumukedima has been revised on the approval of administrator Chumukedima Town Council (CTC). Rate of cut beef- rupees 90 per kilo, beef hides, hoof etc-rupees 80 per kilo, pork wholesale without waste deduction-85 per kilo, and pork retail price- rupees 110 per kilo. CTC administrator B. Henok Buchem informed that revised rate have come into effect from May 12 and violation of the law would invite action as per provision of law.
State JD (U) appeal for center’s intervention
DIMAPUR: JD (U) Nagaland state unit has appealed to JD (U) national president & National Democratic Alliance (NDA) convenor, Sharad Yadav to raise the prevailing Naga issue at central government level and further demanded immediate imposition of President Rule in Manipur. The party has also condemned the assault on members of Naga Hoho and FNR at Kohima, and further demanded the responsible authorities to take punitive action against the culprits.
Rs. 1,97,000 collected from M V Act defaulters: DTO
DIMAPUR: The enforcement wing under the District Transports Office (DTO) has collected a total revenue of Rs. 1,97,000 in the month of April 2010 while performing duty in and around Dimapur between NH 39 and NH 36 in Dimapur. District Transport Office, Dimapur in a press handout stated that the revenue was collected after carrying out the exercise of the M.V. Act 1998 and in the process the enforcement wing detected 300 cases of M.V. Act defaulters/offenders. The team has also detected 4000 cases of M.V. Act 1988 defaulters and have collected a revenue of Rs. 29,36,600 and has been deposited under the head of account, taxes on vehicles ‘0041’ during the last financial year.
Kohima town hotel union meet held
DIMAPUR: Various issues of raising the standard of the hotels in Kohima, welfare of the staff and payments of tax to various UGs, were discussed during the meeting of the Kohima town hotel union. A press handout by the union’s president, N. Theyo said that the members present in the meeting resolved to approach KMC/Government for fixation of one fair price shop specially for hoteliers to control and fix prices of essential commodities since they were compelled to increase the rate of food items due to increase in price of essentials commodities. It also resolved to penalize those hoteliers who were found selling of any dead animals/birds in hotel/restaurant. In regard to payments of tax to UGs, the members have urged the groups to serve the notice in advance in case of the hoteliers.
Zeliangrong Baudi Nagaland visit Mao gate
DIMAPUR: Zeliangrong Baudi ZB (Nagaland) on Monday paid solidarity visit to Mao gate to show unflinching support to the Nagas. Z B (N) gen secy, Gwangphun Gangmei stated that act of barring entry of “ato kilonser” Th. Muivah to his native home was not a personal attack or attack to particular community, but on Nagas as a whole. It said such act was a direct and intentional violation of human rights, the motive was judged as an outright rejection of Nagas rights. Z B (N) also expressed shock over the assault of social workers on May 9 by unidentified miscreants.

DIMAPUR: The 27th International AIDS Candlelight Memorial on the theme ‘Many lights for Human Rights’ will be held at Longkumer Kilem, Mokokchung on May 16, 3 p.m. Meanwhile, NNP+, DAPCU, CYSA, WNP+, AYWO, IDCC and Youth Department of various Churches in Wokha Town will be observing International AIDS candlelight memorial service on May 16, 5.30 pm at Town Hall, Wokha.

DIMAPUR: Kiphire – Tuensang NST bus service was resumed after a lapse of four years.
