Drawing attention to a news item that reportedly appeared in Guwahati-based daily, NSCN (I-M) today said unfounded allegations directed against it was not a new thing to be seen in the media.
According to a MIP/GPRN statement, the reporter of one Guwahati-based daily had quoted sources saying NSCN (I-M) had trained about 30 Muslim youths from Barak valley at its Hebron camp on the purpose to carry out extortion drive.
Blaming the intelligence agencies for providing false information, the NSCN (I-M) MIP statement said: “intelligence agencies is always desperate to target NSCN and take pleasure in feeding the media with all sorts of wild information but far from factual situation.”
Maintaining that it believed in peaceful coexistence of all communities in the region, the NSCN (I-M) said: “and therefore to foment tension between Hindus and the Muslim by it NSCN is a mockery of intelligence agencies out to create sensation out of nothing just to please its bosses in the Home Ministry in New Delhi.”
The MIP statement said that NSCN was least perturbed over such allegations that was done to tarnish its “good name.”
Further underlining that it was in ceasefire with government of India for the past 13 years, and was committed to peaceful settlement of “Indo-Naga Political problems,” the NSCN (I-M) said what has been agreed upon at the time of signing ceasefire was strictly adhered to in principle and in practice.
