Signal Angami Village Council (SAVC) in a meeting held on May 8 with village elders and GBs has decided not to permit the demand for creation/recognition of Phom colony at Signal Angami village.
In a press statement issued by secretary SAVC Neichuvoto Kiso, on behalf of council said the Signal Angami village since its recognition on February 17, 1968 having distinctive boundaries was inhabited by various tribes and by creating a tribal colony within the village would create tribalism. Further, the council said after deliberation it is felt that the demand was not possible and the village elders have strongly opposed to such creation for the interest and welfare of people and also notified that it would not entertain such demand in near future in order to safeguard the village from those vested power ‘monger’.
SAVC also informed that there would be no separate colony/khel within its jurisdiction and all schools, factories, industries and others shall use their writing pad/sign board with the name Signal Angami Village on it. Meanwhile, the council has warned those dealing with unrecognized colony within the village jurisdiction that he/she would be doing so at their own risk.
