3 awarded N.I Jamir excellence award

The 15th general conference of Eastern Nagaland Gazetted Officers’ Association (ENGOA) was held today at Council Hall, Mon, where ‘N.I Jamir Award of Excellence in Public Service’ was awarded to local government servants of four districts for their service. The recipients include Shayung SDO (Civil) Longleng, Levi Keor Lecture Kiphire and Shingwang EAC Mon.
MLA Chingwang Konyak and former opposition leader, while speaking on the formation of the Eastern Nagaland Organisations recollected the past when during ‘Naga Hills Tuensang Area’, no special financial provision was given to Eastern Nagas’, except ‘special protection, due to which unemployment and other socio-economic problems arose, which led to the differences in all sectors, and gap with the rest of the Nagas’, which ultimately led to the formation of Eastern Nagaland Organisations such as ENPO,ENSF, ENWO, ENGOA… etc, to look into the grievances of the region.
He also said that the special opportunity should be given to the people of the region in order to fill the gap. Although funds for infrastructural development have been sanctioned by the government, he lamented that the contract works were not being allotted to local contractors.
According to him, all contract works under Eastern Nagaland should be allotted to the contractors of the concern district for the growth of both infrastructure and economical development of the district. He also requested the ENGOA to give suggestions and views to the Eastern Nagaland Organisations and urged upon the ENGOA to fight for their rights and cause.
DC Mon Dinesh Kumar, IAS called upon ENGOA to take up the issue with the government and organise awareness program. He hoped that if right to education was implemented effectively, there would be a positive impact on socio- economic of the society. Sharing his experience while serving in the Eastern Nagaland for the past three years he said that he was aware of the needs of the people and cited that he had seen Hospitals without doctors, equipments, medicines etc.
He also noticed that there was lack of private hospital and private institution for higher eduation in the region and encouraged private partnership in establishing such institutions. He also lamented that funds sanctioned for self employment such as C.M corpus fund, PMEGP etc were not being utilized properly by the beneficiary.
President ENGOA Muthingnyuba Sangtam while speaking on the aims and objective of the association stated that the purpose of the association was to lead the people in the right direction. He also stated that the 25% reservation demanded by the Eastern Nagas’ should be implemented by the government.
Meanwhile new team of office bearers were nominated in the conference with Tingshem, Joint Director, Directorate of School Education as president, Betongse Sangtam, assistant director statistic as vice president, Tainu, Under Secretary P & AR as general secretary and Toshi Angh, assistant engineer CAWD as assistant general secretary- cum finance secretary.
