ZPO first executive meeting held

The first executive meeting of Zeliang Peoples Organization (ZPO) was held on April 21 at Peren town presided over by Azu Newmai, president ZPO. The executive members after intense deliberations have unanimously resolved to use the same nomenclature Zeliang Peoples Organization and ZPO in abbreviation instead of ZLPO as was used earlier. The members also resolved that all those settled in Peren district prior to 1963 would be given indigenous certificate and that children of indigenous girl marrying non-Nagas shall not be given the indigenous certificate. Further, proposed establishing ITI center in Peren district and science stream at Peren College. On complaint against homicide of Mnanglakpe Hega by Mamungba LDA, MS Office, the members decided to approach DC Peren for initiating action against the accused following the complaint received by the organization from the parents of the deceased.
The members also decided to give a representation to DC Peren to allow president and general secretary of ZPO to attend the DPDB meeting to represent the issues of Zeliang people. Meanwhile, the general session of ZPO has been convened on May 28 at Peren town where in the present office bearers would be approved by the general body.
