Peace Channel, Kohima conducted a one day teacher’s orientation programme on Saturday at Baptist High Higher Secondary School, Kohima on the theme “Be a channel of peace”.
The programme was attended by 55 teachers from 12 different schools and colleges including some Peace Channel volunteers, who were affiliated to Peace Channel Movement under Kohima District.
Speaking on the theme, Neiketu Iralu, Trustee Initiatives of Change, India, said “Peace starts within oneself”. He also recalled the life of some important personalities who by their total selflessness and patriotic feelings created an impact on humanity such as Mahatma Gandhi, Dalai Lama, Su Kyi etc. He further stressed that if people wanted to develop Peace, they needed to know about the historical facts like doctrines of Adolf Hitler, Benito Mussolini etc that rippled the society. He also mentioned many examples and incidents from his own life and pointed how Peace began from oneself and family.
Coordinator Peace Channel, Dimapur Kishore Dass gave a presentation of Peace Channel Movement where he mentioned and explained concepts, vision, mission and objectives of the movement. The concept, importance and art of meditation were shared by Sr. Rupa Coordinator of Brahma Kumari Movement, Kohima where she led the group to a moment of deep relaxation and self realization through meditation.
The programe was presided over by Victor Kevilhouthie Yhome, Coordinator of Kohima District Peace Channel. He welcomed all participants for their imitative for the programme and gave a brief introduction about orientation program. It was followed by Peace Channel Anthem which was belted out by volunteers of Kohima Village Peace Club and Christ King Hr. Sec. School.
