Advocacy Campaign on HIV and AIDS in Impur

One day Advocacy Campaign on HIV and AIDS with stakeholder supported by the LFA-UNAIDS was organized by NMP+ and NNP+ at 23rd Impur constituency which comprised of 5 villages on the theme “Together We Can” with Nungsangyapang, MLA as guest speaker.
Kesonyu Yhomi, IAS, SDO (C) Mokokchung in his welcome note highlighted that ever since Nagaland first detected HIV and AIDS in the year 1994, the epidemic has been spreading like wild fire. He also encompassed on the hitches of HIV and AIDS, by quoting “We will never overcome HIV and AIDS unless we overcome stigma and discrimination”.
He called upon the people to give positive people the right to live, the right that every normal citizen enjoys, stated an official bulletin.
Dr. Vinito L. Chishi, State Co-ordinator, NFA-UNAIDS briefed about HIV and AIDS its impact and nature of spreading. Dr. Menang, CCC, Impur gave a brief medical views on the disease.
Rev. I Meren Pongen viewed that HIV and AIDS was a global problem and stated that Church as one of the main pillars of present social structure must advocate on sanctity of both body and soul. “Every Christian should maintain a clean and pure life acceptable to God’s eye and save both your body and soul”, he added.
He also called upon various NGO’s to make proper use of government sanctions to help out HIV and AIDS victim. “Are we seemingly fighting HIV and AIDS focusing on the funds and aids” he said. Nungsangyapang also explained how LFA-UNAIDS was structured and formed and highlighted the sources of funding to make people aware those legislatures were practically working hand in hand for the betterment of society.
