Bamboo flowering reported in 3 villages

One day awareness campaign on rodent pest management was held at Community hall Aliba village for three villages of Chungtia, Aliba and Kinunger.
As per the oral record shared by some of the participants, bamboo flowering occurred during 1912 and 1962 in the area followed by sudden increase in rodent population thereby destroying agricultural fields and this year 2010 also bamboo flowering was noticed in the area, hence sudden increase in rodent population was expected within one or two year.
A team of senior officers from agriculture directorate, Kohima also attended the programme.
The programme was chaired by C. Alemyanger, agriculture officer-II DAO Office Mokokchung.
Earlier in the programme Rongsenienla, deputy director of agriculture gave the keynote address and Temjensoba, DDA delivered a short speech.
Resource person D.K. Chetri SMS (Jr) DAO Office Zunheboto deliberated on rodent pest management followed by discussion and interactive session.
Later in the programme, Rodenticide “ROBAN CAKE” and printed literature was distributed to all the participants.
