CCDU -cum- PHED sponsored public rally was organized by NGOs under Suruhuto and Asuto area on April 17 at Suruhuto police point where chairman of Suruhuto ad-hoc town committee and convener of the rally committee, Hekhushe Shikhu took out procession with placards around the town. According to a press note, demonstration on construction of economic latrine and its hygienic use was presented by Er. Hotolu Swu, junior engineer PHED Suruhuto. The main speakers were Tokavi Shikhu who spoke on ‘sanitation generate economic benefit and contribute to dignity and social development’, Hokuto Jakhalu on ‘sanitation is vital for human health’ and Er. P. Khetoi Awomi, executive engineer PHED Zunheboto stressed and exhorted on ‘sanitation is achievable’.
Further, PHED distributed twenty waste bins made of treated bamboo to the various schools in the town and also PHED Zunheboto division has expressed gratitude to all participants, NGOs, school students, Suruhuto administration and Ad-Hoc Town Committee, speakers, GBs and WATSAN members under Suruhuto and Asuto area for making the rally successful. Meanwhile, NGOs of Suruhuto and Asuto area have strongly resolved to pursue and take up all possible measures to educate and encourage the rural masses in utilizing and adopting proper hygienic practice and sanitation.
