DAN govt. in dire financial crisis: Cong

Congress has reasserted that the NPF-led DAN coalition government is saddled with mounting deficit which has crossed Rs.597 crore before close of financial year ending March 31, 2010 to over Rs. 800 crore. A senior Congress leader told this Reporter that the DAN government will be in thicker soup if it has to release the 6th ROP effective from April 1, 2010. Adding to the financial woes, the DAN government would also have to release dues to those who were affected by the retirement bill in November 2009, the Congress leader said. It was also stated that the DAN government has yet to reconcile its financial account for 2009-10 and wondered whether ‘huge overdraft’ along with the funds kept in Civil Deposits. The Congress leader alleged that the DAN government has ‘frozen’ around Rs.500 crore in Civil Deposits for Central Sponsored Schemes. Further, it was alleged that the borrowings from financial institutions was ‘very high’ but that the government had not come out with facts and figures.
