National Investigating Authority (NIA) led by superintendent arrived here Sunday to probe into abortive attempt to blow up Raj Bhavan on September 18, 2009 and two times attack at Chief Minister’s bungalow in 2008.
Taking serious note of the abortive car bomb attempt inside the highly protected Raj Bhavan complex and the blast incidents inside the Chief Minister’s bungalow, the Home Ministry proposed NIA to investigate into the incidents.
A high level team of the Manipur police led by IG Intelligence LS Khoute has been investigating into the car bomb attempt after registering a case under FIR NO. 92(9)09 City PS US 121/121-A/307/506-IPC, 16/18/20UA(P)A- Act, 08, 25(I-B) Arms Act &4-Explosive Substance Act.
During the course of investigation four persons were arrested and detained under NSA apart from placing three civil police personnel on duty at the entrance gate of the Raj Bhavan under suspension from their service.
Since the series of attacks on the VVIP areas, the Central Industrial Security Forces (CISF) took over the charge of guarding the Chief Minister Bungalow and Raj Bhavan.
The personal security guards of the Chief Minister had also been replaced by the personnel of the Special Security Guard (SSG) of the CISF but Governor Gurbachan Jagat refused to guard him by the SSG.
