Storm ravages Meluri, Phek, Tsg

(L) DRDA office building, Phek reduced to the ground by the storm on Saturday night and EBRC building Meluri seen without roof.

Due to strong wind that lashed on April 24 night, the roof of EBRC Meluri building was destroyed. Power line connecting the office was also snapped due to the storm.
The thunder storm also caused damages to a number of buildings in Phek town including DRDA building being used as the office of the district administration.
The new GA rest house roof was blown off, Christian revival Church, two school buildings and few residential buildings were also damaged. Power supply to the entire town and some local phone land lines supply were also cut off due to the storm.
Meanwhile, twelve houses including eight residential houses, one granary and three houses were also reportedly damaged by the high velocity of cyclonic storm at Lokhung village under Tuensang district on April 23. According to president of the Sangnyuchung Range Union, Koma Chingmak, said that, the union made a spot verification and found that several properties worth approximately about Rs 15 to 20 lakhs were reportedly destroyed in the storm. The Sangnyuchung Range Union has appealed to the government authorities to look into the matter at the earliest for the benefit of the victims and public.
