Power ministers conference in New Delhi

Power ministers of all states and union territories would meet in New Delhi on Wednesday to discuss issues related to the speedy development of power sector. The conference convened by the union ministry of power would be chaired by union power minister Sushilkumar Shinde. This is the 3rd conference of power ministers convened by the ministry of power within a year, according to a PIB release.
The ministers would discuss and deliberate upon critical issues related to generation capacity addition, open access and unbundling of state electricity boards, rural electrification through Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana (RGGVY) and strengthening of sub-transmission and distribution system through Restructured Accelerated Power Development and Reforms Programme (R-APDRP).
Union minister for heavy industries & public enterprises, Vilasrao Deshmukh, union minister for new and renewable energy, Dr. Farooq Abdullah, union minister for petroleum & natural gas, Murli Deora, deputy chairman of planning commission, Dr. Montek Singh Ahluwalia and minister of state (IC) for coal and statistics & programme implementation, Sriprakash Jaiswal will address the inaugural session. minister of state for power, Bharatsinh Solanki will also address the conference. Power ministers and power secretaries of various states and UTs would participate in the conference.
