Chairman Khadi & Village Industries Board, MLA Dr. Nicky Kire said teaching is a noble profession and teachers had the privilege to continue to get respects even from the VIPs through out their life. He said this while inaugurating the new school building of Leirie Chazou (Aradura) GPS today.
“We’ve to start sooner, and it is the duty of the teachers to compete with the private school”, he said while addressing the inaugural function of the new school building just above NST garage, Lierie. To make a good school, teacher had to be dedicated and consider all students as their own children, Dr. Nicky said and stressed on the need to use English as a medium from the primary level in the government school and justified that if the private school could start the same why cant the government school.
He also urged the School education department to come out with innovative ideas of posting of teachers whereby teacher are not posted in the areas where their own dialect was being used as medium for communication or teaching. Citing the example of Mizoram, he pointed out that government schools in Mizoram were performing better than private schools. Calling upon the teachers to be more faithful to their duty, he reminded that the primary duty of the teachers was to teach and not indulg in Church activities without taking leaves. See God in every child you’re teaching as the Doctors does with the patient, else we don’t see compassion, he said and also reminded that good school building along would not fetch any positive impact unless the students perform well in their academic career.
While appreciating the people’s participation for the growth of education in the ward through contribution of the community either in cash or kinds toward the smooth functioning of GPS, he stressed that such people’s participatory need to be continued. Further, he suggested that the WEC should also acknowledge to all individuals who have contributed toward the building as it would set an example for others.
MLA Azheto who also accompanied the chief guest asserted that under the leadership of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio DAN government was developing the state. He however, reminded that government can’t assist the people everything and stressed that the people have to nurture once the government had once given to them infrastructural development. He also hoped that with the public participation, the school would produce good students and enable them to become great leaders of tomorrow.
MLA CL. John who also addressed the occasion appreciated local MLA Dr.Nicky Kire for his keen initiatives and also the WEC for their successful implementation of the SSA scheme in building the new school building.
While stressing the need for WEC, VEC and teachers to give more interest towards their duty, he pointed out that it was not the school but the individual students who would excel to become a successful person depending on his or her caliber and hard working one day if they are obedient and God fearing.
GPS Lierie was established in 1950 as a community run school with just 66 students, the school has 166 students enrolled today. The new school building was constructed under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan during 2010 and has been approved for up-gradation to that of GMS recently effective from next year.
