NSCN (I-M) general secretary, Thuingaileng Muivah has reportedly requested the union government to allow him to visit his native place Ukhrul, Manipur which has been granted. The NSCN (I-M) leader’s visit to Ukhrul in Manipur is going to be after 40 years. According to, Manipur chief minister, O Ibobi met the union home minister, P Chidambaram Wednesday and discussed with him the law and order situation in Manipur. Though it was not known what transpired between the union home minister and the chief minister during the meeting, reports received from New Delhi indicated that the two leaders might have discussed the proposed visit of NSCN (I-M) leader, Thuingaileng Muivah to Ukhrul in Manipur. Unconfirmed reports said, the Central Government has given permission to Muivah to visit to Ukhrul in Manipur. If his visit to Manipur is to materialise, the responsibility of his security will be of the Government of Manipur. Wednesday’s meeting between the Manipur chief minister and the union home minister could have focused on the proposed visit of Muivah and the security protection to be provided to him, reports said. However, the state government had in the past issued warrant of arrest against Th Muivah.
