She was not born with silver spoon and lives in rented house without good facilities to study, but 15-year old Omegali Swu from Stella Higher Secondary School, Kohima who topped this year’s HSLC examination revealed that her secret to success was her concentration while studying.
“I have no specific timing for studies but whenever I study I put my whole concentration,” revealed Omegali who will turn 16 this coming December. Talking to media persons at her home in Forest Colony, Kohima on Friday the topper said on an average, she used to study about six hours in a day.
Omegali revealed she was surprised to be the topper as she was not expecting it although hoping to be among the top ten. She attributed her success to God, her parents, principal, teachers and staff and friends.
The fourth sibling of Inashe Swu, a head clerk at the election department presently posted in Tuensang and his wife Xutoli hailing from Mishilimi/Pughoboto of Zunheboto district, Omegali wants to become a Doctor. To achieve her aim, Omegali said she she would like to pursue her further studies at Kohima Science College, Jotsoma as her school does not have science stream in the Higher Secondary level. The topper said she likes reading and watching movies apart from her studies.
Her excited parents said their daughter first went to Grace School for class A and then shifted to NFS Pughoboto from class B till V and then joined Stella School from Class VI onwards. She was very good in her studies from childhood till today and also
scored first in the class. “Comparing last year percentage, I was hoping that she might get top two or three, but not the topper” admitted excited mother Xutoli and thanked God for the blessing through her daughter.
On the other hand, the father who on hearing about the declaration of the HSLC examination rushed back to Kohima from his posting place Tuensang last night also expressed happiness on the achievement made by his daughter.
On reaching Kohima Friday morning, he first met the principal of the school whom he said jumped out of excitement. He attributed his daughter’s success to his house wife Xutoli for her care and prayer as he doesn’t stay home much. Further, he expressed confidence that God would bless his family members with more such successes in the days to come.
