In an act of political vendetta, a house belonging to one Khareingam Keishing of Leshiphung village under Saikul subdivision was razed to the ground by Autonomous District Council (ADC) Congress candidate Rockson by the state security forces on Sunday.
Sources said the incident happened following an abortive attack made on the residential house of INC candidate Rockson by Khareingam, an independent ADC candidate for Kamuching constituency under Saikul subdivision, in the wee hours today.
Sources said that Rockson along with police commandos rushed to the village and torched Khareingam’s residential house.
On May 29, Rockson attacked Khareingam’s son Soshim injuring him seriously at the latter’s house at Dewlahland at around 7.30pm and in retaliation, Khareingam rushed to Rockson’s house, however, Leishiphung village authorities foiled the attempt made on the latter’s property.
The bizarre incident occurred after a series of attack and counter-attack between the rival candidates.
Meanwhile, the Tangkhul Coordination Committee has strongly condemned the act committed by INC candidate Rockson and Imphal East SDPO. “The TCC has resolved to send a fact finding team to unearth the truth and strong action will be taken to those who have defy the call and wishes of the Naga people,” said TCC media in-charge Tennoson Pheiray.
