Amid reports of the 72 hours bandh called by Tai Ahom in certain parts of neighbouring Assam, people in Kohima resorted to panic buying of fuel causing heavy traffic jam compelling the district administration to close down the entire petrol pump by late afternoon Monday. Panicked vehicle owners were seen queued up in all the petrol pumps to get their stock of fuel. When contacted, superintendent of police, Kohima, Zekotso Mero said that there was no shortage of fuel but the administration was compelled to close down the petrol pumps to clear the traffic. Deputy commissioner Kohima, Beiu Angami said that there was no reason for the public to be apprehensive of fuel shortage.
