TPO official tour Willong village

: Officials of the Tenyimi Peoples’ Organization (TPO) on Monday toured the historic Willong village, under present Senapati district to collect history of the Tenyimi forefather and the migration route as part of its ongoing research work. The TPO officials led by its president Z M Sekhose was received by Maram Union and Maram Students’ Union at Maram Centre before proceeding to Willong. TPO team visited various historical places and monuments at Willong village and later a meeting was held in a Morung which was led by Maram Students’ Union President Sebastian. In the meeting, Maram Union president R.K Peter gave the welcome addressed and thanked TPO officials for visiting the areas.
TPO general secretary Benjamin Lorin exhorted the gathering on the purpose of the TPO officials visit and also the importance of documenting the history of the Tenyimi family through the ongoing TPO research work. He said the visit was a preliminary visit ahead of the proposed TPO research committee who will be visiting soon to gather and document Tenyimi history. Elders from Willong villages and leaders of the Maram Union and Maram Students’ Union also shared their knowledge on the history of the Tenyimi and their forefather.
TPO president Z.M Sekhose during the visits to various historical monuments suggested the need to maintain originality and stressed the need to remove the existing electric transformer sub-stations and also the need to erect fencing wall to protect the monuments. He also stressed the need for now new developmental activities in the monument site but maintained the originality and suggested to maintain a register to get comments from the visitors.
