Newly constructed ‘Morung’ at Kiruphema, one of the first in western area, was inaugurated on May 29 by Speaker, Nagaland Legislative Assembly, Kiyaneilie Peseyie as chief guest.
In his address, he said Morung was one of the most important parts in one’s forefather’s life as men folk gathered and shared views and ideas, village history, boundaries and good manners were learned from the Morung.
He called upon the people to know the importance of Morung and conserve cultural heritage to maintain self identity and attract tourist from aboard.
“A place to be tourist spot, the people of the area must maintain peace, posses good behaviour and honesty”, added Kiyaneilie.
He also lauded the DAN government as many developmental works were seen even in the village level.
Earlier, the program was chaired by Dziivi-u Zhiinyii, invocation by Viletuo Vielie, pastor, Kiruphema Baptist Church.
A brief history of Morung was given by Silietuo Visienyii, Chairman, Kiruphe Bawe Village Council, short speech by Thepfiilhouca, chairman, Kiruphema General council and V. Noudi, Art executor , department of Art & cuture, followed by folk song presented by Vilekho and Neiyiezo party and vote of thanks by Neiyiezietuo, chairman, WATSAN Kiruphe Bawe.
The village council also extended gratitude to the speaker for showing concern and love to the village and for his contribution for the uplift of the village.
