Sumi Hoho has expressed its strong opposition over the move by some organisations and state government to rename Dimapur. Conveying its stand on the issue, the Sumi Hoho president Hokishe Yepthomi, in a statement, said that whether it was the name of a person, village, town or city, it has its own significance, which Dimapur was no least or different Further, maintaining that every Naga individual or organisation should assimilate the basic history and origin of anything, the Sumi Hoho, however, said it should be done with utmost sincerity and honesty as history cannot be distorted or robbed away. The Hoho, meanwhile, congratulated all founding leaders of Dimapur District Citizens’ Forum (DDCF), and affirmed that it was “fully” behind the forum for any “good cause” that was for the larger interest of the Nagas.
