Rs.2 cr for Dmu airport facelift

Government has sanctioned Rs. 2 crore for face-lifting Dimapur Airport, joint GM (aero) said during Aerodrom committee for airport meeting held at DC’s conference hall June 2. DC & chairman Aerodrom committee Dimapur Maongwati Aier, while welcoming committee members, highlighted committee’s importance and its task on improving the only airport in the state to meet people’s aspirations, a DIPR bulletin reported today. Agendas discussed during the meeting included implementation of anti hijacking contingency plan facilities at the airport and installation of RAP/DAP at the earliest. Aerodrom committee chairman also underlined the need for proper signage and reporting place for foreign tourists, restaurant at the airport, book stalls, and installation of air-conditioning system at departure and concourse hall. The chairman also appealed for increasing number of aircrafts at Dimapur airport. Meanwhile, the Aerodrom committee has decided to invite more airlines to operate at Dimapur airport. The panel also decided to encourage private parties to increase activities like restaurant, book stall and concessionaries etc.
