Rural tourism project at Thestümi village

Rural Tourism Project in Thetsiimi Village was inaugurated on Thursday by Deo Nukhu, Advisor for Art and Culture New & Renewable Energy, Science and technology as the chief guest.
Deo Nukhu said opening of rural tourism project was a new opening for Tourism Avenue for the village and thanked the tourism department for setting up the project.
He also suggested village youth to make full use of the opportunities and urged upon them to come together to the morung and practice the traditional folk songs and make use the facilities to fullest possible extend, adding culture and tourism should go together.
The MLA also opined for the improvement of the road transport and asserted that he has plan to connect the roads within his constituency and pointed out that there a many interesting places which can attract domestic and international tourists to visit those places.
The guest of honour Commissioner and secretary tourism, art and culture and planning, Himato Zhimomi said that the duty of the government is to build infrastructure and stated that the task of the village begins when it is handed to them and they should manage and run it properly.
He also said that the villagers should keep their village neat and clean in order to attract tourist to their village.
Tourism Deputy Director KT Thomas said tourism was one of the biggest revenue earning industries in the world and suggested to the villages to think of starting the eco-tourism and health tourism and the village can show a success story to other villages.
Village also celebrated Kaputenye festival. In a brief hand out it stated that “ Kaputenye in a nutshell” – In the olden days “Kapuntenye” know also as “Khunukesu Menyi” was observed for a day on the first day of lunar month of June. The festival which is known to be celebrated only in the Thestumi village is marked by preparation of different snacks made out of sticky rise ,sesame naga pulses and maize . The celebration is also look forward by the older people as well who begin to prepare for their coming days of hard work with food and merriment.
Earlier, the function was chaired by NK Nuh, invocation prayer by Vechülo Doulo, Pastor Thestümi Baptist Church, greetings was proposed by Kevechütso Doulo and the vote of thanks by Vetsope Venuh, VCC Thetsümi.
