26 ambulances for 11 districts flagged off

Under the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM), Nagaland has received 26 ambulance vehicles to be allotted to various health units of 11 districts of the state. The ambulances were officially flagged off Friday by minister for planning and coordination, veterinary and animal husbandry T.R. Zeliang, at new office complex of Health and Family Welfare directorate.
Congratulating the department, T.R. Zeliang said ambulances would be able to cater to the needs of people in remote areas in emergency situation.
Commissioner and secretary, Health and Family Welfare, Menukhol John stated that Nagaland was one of the states where central government had understood her problems and provided ambulances in the form of packages. He also mentioned that the state was still short of requirement and that it needed more for far flung villages.
Ambulance allotted to various health units include Yongnyah PHC, Phomching PHC under Longleng district; Tizit PHC and Wakching PHC under Mon district; Longchem PHC, Longjang PHC under Mokokchung district; Athibung PHC and Tening PHC under Peren district; District Hospital Wokha, Nyiru PHC and Chukitong PHC under Wokha district; Khuza PHC and Wezihu PHC under Phek district; DAC district Hospital Dimapur, Niuland PHC under Dimapur district; Akuluto PHC, Suruhuto PHC and District Hospital Zunheboto under Zunheboto district; Noksen PHC, Shamator PHC and Thonoknyu PHC under Tuensang district; Amhator PHC and Sitimi PHC under Kiphire district and Chiephobozou CHC, Chunglikha PHC and Kezocha PHC under Kohima district.
