Rio inaugurates Chiechama VC hall

State Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on Friday inaugurated the new Chiechama Village Council Hall at Chiechama Village.
Speaking at the gathering at Chiechama Village Council Hall, Rio said the new building should be a building of peace, unity and oneness and congratulated the building committee for constructing the “land mark building”.
According to a brief report of building of Chiechama Village Council Hall, the period of construction was from 2006-2010 at the cost of Rs.51.40 lakhs.
Talking about the state Government’s declaration of year 2010 as Year of Entrepreneurs, the chief minister called the youths to showcase their talents and avail various opportunities provided by the government and asserted that state should become a producing society rather than a consumer society.
The chief minister also informed that Joint Parliamentary Working Committee (JPWC) joint meeting was scheduled on June 9 at Kohima where all the 60 elected members of NLA and two MPs from Nagaland with representatives of Naga civil organizations, churches, all tribal representatives would be discussing matters pertaining to Naga political issue.
While speaking about the “identity” of the Nagas, Rio said that even during British rule in India, the British parliament in London in 1873 passed Eastern Bengal Regulation Act and introduced Inner Line Permit (ILP) for non-locals visiting the Naga areas and later the Indian government continued till date and further Indian government under Article 371(A) give special status to the Nagas in order protect Naga identity in matter of social, religious, culture and traditions. The chief minister also said that the government was hopeful to resolve the ongoing stalemate of government servant salaries with reference to the ROP, adding both the government and staffs were working for the welfare of the people.
Regretting that Nagas were losing the “work culture”, he categorically stated that if the government servants were not satisfied to work, they should leave the job, come out and work in private sector or run their own business, earn and became successful businessman
Earlier the function was chaired by Thejao Viehienuo, convenor, Council Hall Building Committee, Kevisilie Rüpreo, chairman Village Council Chiechama delivered welcome address, special song was presented by Centenary Choir Chiechama and women society Catholic Church Chiechama and the Vote of thanks will be proposed by Yangulie Sanchu, president, Chiechama Razou Kehou.
