Liyai Khunou village authority has condemned the barbaric activities and behavior of the security forces who were deputed at Liyai Khunou village.
The village authorities alleged that Manipur IRBs and commandos misbehaved and mishandled local people and properties during their on-going deputation in the village in their bid to bar the entry of Th. Muivah, General Secretary, NSCN (IM) to Somdal, Manipur.
A press statement issued by Secretary, Liyai Khunou village L. Daniel stated that peaceful environment and local harmony of the village were disturbed by their presence since their arrival on June 4.
According to the statement, nearly hundred of IRBs and Commandos entered the village early in the morning of June 4 and began to misbehave with the villagers by forcefully taking away domestic fire-woods which were brought home from the forest without taking permission from the owners or village authority.
The Liyai Khunou village authority further went on to add that undesirable offence committed by security forces has violated the customary law.
The statement further stated that security forces broke open the door lock of a house to take shelter in the absence of one Th. Thaimaso’s family members and allegedly took away paddy barns out of the house.
The Liyai Khunou village authority termed this act as “nothing but an act of robbery” as per the customary law.
It further condemned the act of security forces and also appealed to the authority to take immediate necessary measures to curb such attitude toward the Liyai Khunou villagers in near future.
