MPP leaders start indefinite stir to end highway blockade

In wake of the economic blockade on NH 39 and 53, the The Manipur People Party (MPP) has declared fast unto death to draw attention of the central government to intervene in the crisis.
Demanding to remove NSCN (IM) general secretary, Th Muivah from the border area of Manipur from Monday, president of the MPP, Dr Nimaichand Luwang and former Speaker, Sapam Dhananjoy began the hunger strike at Statehood Square, Imphal from Monday.
Stating that the fast will continue till the central and the state government take steps to end the impasses, the MPP said, the economic blockade was imposed by various NSCN (IM) puppets.
The decision to start the indefinite unto death commence after an emergency meeting of the party thoroughly discuss the impact of the nearly two months with no sign of ending the same till date.
MPP president further alleged that the people are experiencing untold hardships due to the inaction and indifferent attitude shown by both the central and state government.
Meanwhile the MPP has asks for Centre’s intervention to prevent Th Muivah from moving round at various places in Nagaland bordering areas of Manipur not caused tension between the neighbors.
