Integrated Cooperative Development Project (ICDP) for Dimapur district was launched with Nagaland State Cooperative Bank (NSCB) as the Project Implementing Agency (PIA) at NSCB Conference hall on Tuesday. The Project Implementation Team (PIT) office was also inaugurated by MLA advisor Sericulture & Cooperation Azheto Zhimomi as chief guest and DC Maongwati Aier as guest of honor.
Speaking at the function, Azheto expressed satisfaction that ICDP had been finally implemented even though there were some initial hiccups. He opined that proper execution of the project could alleviate the bottlenecks of enterprising societies, which lacks of capital and expressed hope that genuine and prospective beneficiaries would be able to avail the project. He also further wished the implementing agency, Nagaland State Cooperative Bank success in their endeavour.
Guest of honor DC Maongwati in his speech asserted that it was the most awaited project for the cooperative societies. While maintaining that the project would certainly improve the micro and small scale industrial scenario in Dimapur, the DC urged the beneficiaries not to misuse the allocated capital as funds. He further added that Cash Deposit Ratio (CDR) in banks of Dimapur had shown an increase, which he added, were healthy signs.
Elucidating on the scheme, Registrar of Cooperative Societies (RCS), M Imtila Jamir disclosed that a sum of Rs 17.66 crores had already been earmarked for 5 year programme; which stresses on development of cooperative societies in the fields of agri and allied sectors including irrigation and live stock. “We will loan out the amount in a phase wise manner to those cooperative societies who have the potential” she added. The RCS further informed that the entire funding was done by the National Cooperative Development Cooperation.
Maintaining the same project has been introduced in some other districts, the RCS averred that those already applied need not necessarily apply. Earlier, welcome address was delivered by Managing Director Nagaland State Cooperative Bank B K Thadani while the vote of thanks was proposed by CPO, Integrated Cooperative Development Project-Dimapur Velasa Nakhro.
