36-hour blockade of National Highways (NH-36 and NH-39), called by JAC of 12 organizations under the aegis of All Assam Manipuri students’ organization, Karbi Anglong, which began on Tuesday June 8 at 5 a.m. ended Wednesday, June 9 at 5 p.m. According to a statement issued by JAC convener Thignam Chandrakumar, the road blockade was basically to show those Naga organizations, sponsoring blockade, how much hardship people experienced by such “artificial blockade.” While expressing hope that, blockade sponsors, after experiencing such hardship would lift blockade immediately, the JAC cautioned: “If not, the Committee and Lup shall be forced to call another blockade indefinitely.” Meanwhile, the Manipuri Apunba Lup, which is a part of Joint Action Committee (JAC), has expressed “heartfelt” gratitude to all responsible, who took active part in making the blockade a “grand success.”
