Expressing deep concern over the fate of Nagas and other tribal people and non-Meiteis living in Imphal valley, the CCNCS took note of the reported threat by the UCM to declare “Peoples Emergency” from May 21 next. CCNCS convenor Neingulo Krome today urged the government of India to prevail over Manipur government if it truly sought to maintain normalcy in the region “by giving peace a chance.” Further, Krome said a CCNCS delegation today visited Tahamzam, Senapati to take stock on prevailing situation in “southern Naga areas”. The delegation, which held consultative meetings with leaders of UNC, ANSAM, NWUM and senior leaders of Naga communities, noted that there were restrictions on movements of Nagas, who were prevented from leaving Imphal valley mostly by Meitei women volunteers.
