State cabinet has reportedly decided to support recent initiatives of civil societies in its attempt to resolve the impasse. The state cabinet, in its sitting today, was learnt to have deliberated in length the prevailing situation in neighbouring Manipur state and suffering of the people.
However, since the state government cannot intervene in another state, it was learnt to have decided to encourage and support the initiatives undertaken by civil societies under the banner of Coordination Committee of Naga Civil Societies (CCNCS).
The CCNCS had recently extended invitation to AMUCO for a “face-to-face” dialogue to resolve the ongoing impasse. However, the latter rejected the invitation for the second time.
Meanwhile, the Nagaland cabinet was also learnt to have deliberated on issue of excess and bogus teacher in school education department. It has, however, decided to allow State Level Verification Committee to first complete the exercises of verifying teachers. The prevailing situation in Manipur began when Ibobi Singh led Manipur cabinet decided to debar NSCN (I-M) leader Muivah from visiting his native Somdal, Manipur.
The Manipur cabinet’s decision was followed by massive deployment of state police forces at all entry points in Naga inhabited areas which resulted the May 6 incident at Mao gate.
