With a motive to heave out the unexplored and unknown prejudices meted out to the thousand of innocent civilians in Mao Gate, NPMHR (Delhi) held a Press Conference at the Indian Women’s Press Corps, 5 Windsor Road, Delhi today.
The conference was organized to present voices and stories of the affected victims that wasn’t made available in the media. A diminutive film presentation on May 6 incident at Mao gate video-taped by a citizen journalist was also screened to showcase the brutality and barbarism of the men in uniform. Vani Subramanian from Saheli a women’s resource centre, stressed on the issue as complex and to be reach out for is one’s point of culmination of the whole crisis adding “one has to look back bit a little before and little after”.
She also stated she was taken aback to see “sea of women” sitting in absolute silence with placards saying simple things “remove sec.144” and to resolve the settlement. “One of the biggest concerns in our interview was not to jeopardize the peace process”, she said.
