Review meet held for improving state, central projects

A review meeting on the State and Central programmes 2009-10 was held on May 17 at the Directorate Conference Hall under the chairmanship of APC & principal secretary, agriculture H.K Khulu in presence of Dr. Chumben Murry, minister for agriculture. Additional director of agriculture, C. Mozhui and joint directors of agriculture, I. Panger, T.V. Holo, E. H. Lotha, Z. Kikon and deputy director Bendangyanger presented the important activities taken up by the department such as the state plan programmes, CSS-macro management, NEC, DONER, agri link road, capital works, NE Agri-Expo, agriculture marketing, NSMB, AGRONAG, extension reforms-ATMA, KVK, education and training and RKVY schemes.
Minister and APC proposed suggestive measures for improving the departmental projects/schemes in order to benefit the farming community in the manner of increasing production and productivity so as to fulfill the departments vision of “Food for all by 2010” in co-ordination with allied disciplines was well taken by all the officers.
The outcome of the meeting included that some of these tangible approaches were converging potential production programmes and data collection by Agri & Allied under the RKVY , co-relation of each production schemes with marketing section for assessing the local and export commodities, computerization of departmental information and developing WAN with district offices, transfer of weather report to farmers through SMS’s and other effective media for better field management, developing an analytical approach to avoid inter & intra scheme duplications and identifying and investing only in revenue generating crops/ventures in PPP mode etc.
