S.I Jamir calls for more awareness in combating AIDS

MLA S.I Jamir on Tuesday called for creating more awareness among the vulnerable group to combat HIV and AIDS.
Speaking at the advocacy programme on HIV and AIDS with stakeholders of Dimapur II A/C held at IMC hall, the MLA pointed out that even with advancement in the field of medicine, till date there has been no cure for the disease. The MLA said people should be more cautious and every citizen should be responsible. He expressed hope that older participants would spread the message
The programme was organized by women & child welfare centre Dimapur and sponsored by Legislators Forum on AIDS (LFA)-UNAIDS. It may be mentioned that the LFA was started off in 2004 for involving the legislators in spreading awareness and preventing HIV related cases particularly in district headquarters and sub-divisions. The legislators have also donated Rs 1 lakh from LADP fund in this regard.
