Two persons who were detained after arousing suspicion of police while looking for an SDPO at the office of SP Kohima to obtain release of a Santro car seized last year by police, were found to be imposters. The two identified as- Ngangshimeren of Asangma village and resident of Naga Hospital Colony, Kohima and his accomplice, Moatkaba of Kelingmen village, and resident of 8th mile Dimapur- posed as senior government officials and even drove to the SP’s office in a car with fake registration No.NL-10-5461 and fake car plate designation as “Secretary & Commissioner” (instead of Commissioner & Secretary). The two had earlier met the OC North PS Tuesday where one claimed to be an IAS officer and the other the son of a VIP. On being asked by the OC to meet the SDPO, they then went to the SP’s office Wednesday. Police said that the accused produced vehicle documents of the Santro car bearing Assam registration. Police are trying to ascertain the authenticity of the car documents but believe it to be stolen. Both were placed under arrest and case registered under South PS while investigation was on.
