Describing the aftermath of May 6 Mao town incident as “nightmare” for thousands of Nagas in and around Mao Naga inhabited areas, the Naga Hoho today said hundreds of displaced people, currently camping at Khuzama and Kisama, were scared to return home because of “all forms of mayhem” that was committed by Manipur commandos and IRB. Pointing out the assurance given by union home secretary G.K Pillai and centre’s pointsman R.S Pandey to replace Manipur commandos and IRBs with central para military force, the Naga Hoho president Keviletuo Kiewhuo and assistant general secretary Nikhrolo Khalo, in a joint press note, today questioned the sincerity of union government as to why it did not fulfill the assurance given to Naga people in letter and spirit, adding Manipur commandos were still operating particularly in Mao and Tadubi areas.\ The Naga Hoho also expressed its conviction that once government of India fulfilled its commitment and curfew lifted completely in Manipur Naga areas, displaced people would not hesitate to return home.
