PAPO holds meeting

Phek Area Public Organization (PAPO) held its general meeting on May 14 at SIRD Hall, Phek town .Minister for health and family welfare, Kuzholuzo Nienu graced the meeting and addressed the house on prevailing socio-economic scenario confronting the people both. Besides electing a new team of PAPO office bearers the house has also adopted a series of resolutions. Taking note of global warming and subsequent climate change, the house resolved to ban random burning of jungles, hunting and fishing by means of explosives/chemicals/generator within its jurisdiction by any individual or group and cautioned that action/penalty would be imposed on defaulter(s). It has resolved to address the spread of HIV and AIDS and drug abuse by organizing seminar/workshops in collaboration with the responsible department and NGOs to create public awareness. The house also deliberated CPO ban on importing pigs from outside the district and resolved to urge the CPO to revoke its ban in the interest of the general public.
