7 selected at Naga Idol Wokha audition
DIMAPUR: The auditions for Naga Idol 5.10, the search for the best and favorite singer of Nagaland, kick started at Wokha on May 18 at the Tourist lodge. The auditions which were organized by Old Timers, the district partner of Wokha, began with a brief programme at the Tourist Lodge with Anthony Ngullie, SDO (Civil) Wokha as the guest of honor. A total of 7 contestants were selected to go through to the screening round which will be held in the month of July and also were qualified for the Wokha district LOCAL HERO contest, an auxiliary contest which will be organized by the local district partner in the month of June.
It may also be noted that the winner of the district Local Hero contest will be immune from the screening round and guaranteed a spot in the Top 24 of Naga Idol 5.10. The Wokha auditions were judged by Luchumbeni, Sorenthung Kikon and Asem Jamir. Enthusiastic young Naga Idol aspirants came for the auditions and by the look of them, one could make out that despite the enthusiasm, they were nervous and anxious of what was in store ahead of them. One by one, each of them took centre stage and sang like they’ve never sang before in front of the three judges. At the end of the day, the contestants who were able to make a mark and were able to impress the judges Renjanthung R Ngullie, Z. William Kikon, Jhonny Lotha, Thungyani Kikon, P. Lorena Khuvung, Benathung Humtsoe, and Nyanthung Kyong.
Naga Idol Peren, Kma auditions on May 28, 29
DIMAPUR: ‘The Ladders’ under the aegis of MDACC will host the Naga Idol 5.10 Peren audition on May 28 at town hall, Peren. Audition forms are available at Quality General Store main town Peren and Mpoms Pharmacy Jalukie town. The last date for forms submission is May 26. AR seizes liquor along NH 150
DIMAPUR: The 13 AR on May 15 seized 19 cases and 11 bottles of liquor from a white colour Maruti Gypsy on NH 150 near Chobama under Pfutsero sub division. According to a defence release, the vehicle was coming from Dimapur and going towards Meluri. The seized liquor along with the vehicle and individuals in vehicle were handed over to Pfutsero police station, added the release.
KSU condemns killing at Moa Gate
DIMAPUR: Kyong Students’ Union (KSU) has condemned the killing of two students and injuring of more than 70 people at Mao Gate on May 6 by Manipur police. Union advocated that Manipur government had no right to ban the visit of Th. Muivah to his ancestral land. KSU has also condemned the assault on leaders of Naga civil societies, Chuba Ozukum, G. Vashum and Nepuni Piku on May 9 at Kohima by unidentified miscreants. In this regard, the union has appealed the state government to accelerate investigation to book the culprits at the earliest and award befitting punishment.
