Plea to revive Medical Council of India
DIMAPUR: Strongly opposing the dissolution of Medical Council of India (MCI), the Indian Medical Association (IMA), Nagaland State Branch in solidarity with Indian Medical Association headquarters, New Delhi at the national and state branch urged the president of India to revive the MCI. The IMA Nagaland State Branch in a memorandum by its president, De Temsu Jamir and secretary, Dr. S. Imkong Tushi Ao addressed to the President of India have appealed for the restoration of the autonomy council.
Health camp conducted at PHC Yachem
DIMAPUR: A one day health camp was conducted at PHC Yachem under Longleng district on April 24 where all together 128 patients’ availed free health check-up and provided with free medicines. The village council chairman on behalf of the village community has expressed gratitude to Dr. Angto, junior specialist District Hospital Longleng and the medical department for extending concern towards the health and welfare of the village community. Also, thanked Pangnyu Phom, parliamentary secretary RD & REPA for offering financial assistance towards the health camp. Further, a similar health camp was also conducted at Tangha Sub Centre and Mongtikang village where patients were given free health check-up and provided with free medicines. Meanwhile, SHC Yachem has been recently upgraded to that of PHC status under NRHM.
NVCO clarifies on tax collection
DIMAPUR: Nagaland Voluntary Consumer Organisation (NVCO) has refuted to forest department on the issue of tax collection by officer -in- charge Chumukedima forest range. NVCO questioned as to whether the officer -in- charge was aware of the order no. CS/2/ADM/2009 on June 22, 2009 and subsequent order no CS/2/ADM/2009 on December 8 issued by the chief secretary. The organisation also questioned the officer in- charge as to how and under which notification the forest department was charged rupees 100 without receipt at Chumukedima check- gate and another rupees 50 without receipt at bye-pass Kohima. NVCO has sought clarification from the officer -in- charge and requested the state government to take necessary action in respect of the collection of cash at the check –gate highways with or without receipt.
New rate for DMC Cesspool
DIMAPUR: In pursuance of the DMC advisory committee resolution the hiring and charges of DMC cesspool has been fixed as 1. Area within DMC jurisdiction: a)1st trip Rs. 1500, b) Subsequent trip for the same septic tank Rs 1000. 2. Outside DMC jurisdiction: a)1st trip Rs 2000, b)Subsequent trip to the same place: Rs 1800.
