In view of the proposed visit of NSCN (I-M) general secretary, Th. Muivah, the Tangkhul Action Committee (TAC) has issued proclamation announcing closure of all government offices and institutions within the jurisdiction of “Ukhrul Administration, Nagalim” with effect from May 21 until further notice. TAC media in-charge, Tennoson Pheiray in a press release informed that, with exception, the medical department, PHED, power, media, school and college would remain functional. TAC said the proclamation would cover all public and concerned authorities within the jurisdiction of Ukhrul administration and remain effective till the arrival of the “VVIP in South Nagalim.” “Whatsoever, whoever, no program or any other VVIP or VIP from anywhere shall be accorded welcome in the South Nagalim until the proposed visit of our leader is achieved,” TAC affirmed. Further, TAC said it was in consonance with this stand that the proposed visit of G.K. Pillai at Shirui Village in commemoration of its Shirui Lily Golden Jubilee on May 21 has been cancelled by the concerned authority with the wishes of the Tangkhul community. It requested all the concerned authority for strict compliance of the proclamation warning that any untoward incidents/eventualities arising due to non-compliance of proclamation would be the sole responsibility of the concerned authority/individual.
