Altogether nine students including two from Myanmar received their commissioning from Agape College principal, Dr. V. Kisheto during the 16th convocation service held in the college premises, Padumpukhuri Dimapur on Saturday. Gracing the occasion as speaker, Deputy Commissioner Dimapur, Maongwati Aier said commissioning was not a new practice but a continuing act, which Jesus Christ himself did during his twelfth year.
Lamenting that the world was getting darker every moment, Aier urged the new graduates to preach the word of God to the world and be a source of light and hope for millions awaiting the word of Christ. He also encouraged them not to fear the world and emphasized on their need to speak about Jesus and to talk about Jesus.
Maongwati Aier also spoke on the shifting of mindset from oneself to others and how to be world class Christians.
The speaker touched on the need for globalization of evangelization and the gospel so that the word of God would reach to the farthest ends of the earth, which he termed as “every Christian’s bonded duty”.
Earlier in the programme, awards were presented to the graduating class by Maongwati Aier and College Board chairman, Nungsang Aier, which included “life and ministry award” and “academic proficiency award” among others.
Hrethanglian Chin of Myanmar was awarded with Life & Ministry award, Old Testament studies, New Testament studies, Theology and Ethics, History of Christianity and academic proficiency award. All together he received six awards. Meanwhile, award for scripture knowledge was conferred to Peter.
