The Union Ministry of Civil Aviation has enhanced the sanctioned amount for construction of the Greenfield airport in Arunachal Pradesh capital from the original estimate of Rs 4.50 crore to Rs 9.50 crore.
State unit NCP sources said this was informed by Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel when NCP state president Ngurang Pinch called on him at New Delhi on Thursday. Pinch met the Minister to request for early construction of the airport proposed at Karsingsa near here as Arunachal Pradesh is yet to figure in the aviation map of India, reported UNI.
Reportedly, Patel assured Pinch of early start of the construction works and wished the people of the state for a smooth and successful air service in the near future.
Former Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil had laid the foundation stone of the proposed airport during Statehood Day celebration in 2008.
