The 4th biennial session of Sumi Baptist Theological Association (SBTA) was held at Khukiye-Lukhai village from May 14 to 16 on the theme “Towards a Better Community”.
According to a press note, around 600 delegates attended the session and Rev. S. Yevito executive secretary SBAK (Nito Mount), Dr. Hukashe Zhimomi, director Nagaland Development Outreach (NDO) and Rev.Vitoi Kappo, pastor, Sumi Baptist Church Purana Bazar were the main speakers.
The three day session included Bible study, worship services including indigenous creative worship, paper presentations, panel discussion, business hour, experience sharing from church workers, para church ministry and NGO ministry experience.
Further, various competitions were conducted for students like extempore speech, quartet and talent show. The first SBTA Journal was also released during the session by the Deputy Commissioner of Zunheboto, Kiheto Zhimo and census report of Sumi Theological members were also presented.
The SBTA also resolved that it would have a full time coordinator as early as possible and guidelines for theological studies shall be prepared especially for the benefit of theological students.
The SBTA further shared their grief at the loss of life of innocent students relating to Mao Gate incident on May 6 and also prayed for peace to prevail in the region.
Meanwhile, a new team of SBTA officers for the next session was nominated with Dr. Hesheto Chishi as president, Tovishe Shohe as general secretary and other members.
