Sub-centre building of Ukha village under Tobu block of Mon district was inaugurated on June 18 by Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Mon Dr. T. Kikon. Speaking during the inaugural function, the CMO expressed gratitude to Development for Under-Developed Area (DUDA) for constructing the sub-centre for the Medical Department. Advising the village folks to take care of the new building Dr. T. Kikon said, “the building belonged to DUDA but now, it belongs to the Medical Department, which means it belong to the people and to God” and also called upon the public to treat the building with respect.
The CMO further highlighted the different medical facilities available in sub-centre as well as in Mon like TB, Malaria and others and asked the people to come forward and make use of the health services. He also underscored the need for voluntary contributions from community for the well being and successful running of the sub Centre.
Meanwhile, the Ukha village chairman N. Mongkha Konyak expressing happiness at the first formal inauguration of the sub-centre building in the village said that it was almost impossible for a single nurse to take care of the sub centre and further appealed the chief guest to request for additional man power in the form of second nurse and medical attendant for Ukha sub-centre.
