Sukhalu stresses on self reliance

First convocation of GNIIT was held on Saturday at NIIT Dimapur centre.
Speaking on the occasion as chief guest, K.T Sukhalu, IAS, secretary Legal Metrology & Consumer Protection said that 2008-09 was declared as Year of Capacity Building by Chief Minister and the Department of Information Technology and Communication endorsed the GNIIT programme by sponsoring 121 candidates under Chief Minister’s Corpus Fund and through GNIIT training centre for empowerment of Naga youth in IT sector. He also said that under the Year of Entrepreneurs 2010, the department is committed to empower the youth of the state and proposing to implement the schemes as sponsorship of Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLE) under the Common Services Centres (CSCs) project to enable setting up of CSCs and to enable revenue earning for the VLEs, assistance to entrepreneurs who are willing to start a Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) office in the state and to assist entrepreneurs who can start Computer Training Institutes across the state including district and block headquarters.
Further speaking about the employment opportunities, the chief guest highlighted that the department envisages setting up IT park in the state which can provide incubating facilities to entrepreneurs and employment opportunities to the youth of Nagaland in leading IT industries to set up offices in IT park and also to train the youth in various specialized fields by setting up a state of the art Human Resource Training hub which will focus on employment generating courses. With a view to include the rural masses, an e- literacy drive is being initiated by the department to train at least one person from every recognized village of the state, Sukhalu said.
Congratulating the 21 students and Ajay Sethi, managing director NIIT and his team for the dedication and commitment in educating the youth on the use of ICT tools and for churning out IT professionals from the state, Sukhalu said that the students passing out today will make the state proud by serving with sincerity wherever they are employed. He also urged the young generation to be more responsible and keep themselves updated with the happenings and employment opportunities not only in the government sector but also in private companies across the country.
Altogether 21 students were awarded diploma certificates.
It may be mentioned that the NIIT Dimapur centre is being at the forefront of the IT revolution in Nagaland for the last 10 years and more than thousand NIITians of Dimapur are serving in various reputed organizations across the country. The centre has also received Top Achiever Team’s “Leaders Brave All” trophy twice, besides being in top 50 business partners of NIIT limited.
