Freedom fighter Kanduri Mallick passed away

Senior Politician, Former Freedom Fifgter , Four times legislature Kanduri Charan Mallik passed away on Sunday at 11am in Capital Hospital . After hearing this sad message, his relatives, many eminent persons of the state, Ministers , legislatures, Journalists offered their homage to the departed soul. He born on Ist January ,1921 in Village Alingi ( Kasarada )under Govindpur Police Station of Cuttack District. His dead body will be cremated in Puri Swargadwar.
His Father’s name Late Ananda Chandra Mallick, Spouse’s name Savitri Devi. He has 3 son and 2 daughters . He was an Under Graduate, his Hobby was Agriculture. He was working for Welfare of Adivasi and Harijana people and worked for their upliftment, removal of social rigid; casteism and untouchability. He was elected as legislature 4 times. From 1957 to 61 he was elected as a candidate of Praja Socialist Party from Jagatsinghpur (SC) Constituency. From 1961 to 1967 He was elected as legislature from Govindpur (SC) Constrituency as a Candidate of National Congress. He was elected from 1967 to 1971 from Jagatsinghpur (SC) Constituency as a candidate of Praja Socialist Party. and again He was elected as legislature of Jagatsinghpur (SC) Constituency as a candidate of Janta Dal.
Since 1933 He was associated with National Congress; associated in relief work with Nabakrushna Choudhury and Malati Chaudhury in the flooded areas of Govindpur during 1933 and during high flood when a Khandeita ghai breach occurred ; took active part in Dhenkanal historic movement; During Quit India Movement in August 1942 was arrested for leading College strikes and for underground movement with Jaya Prakash Narayan and Dr. Lohia , imprisoned from 1942 to 1945 and released in April, 1945; started Angul Ashram with Late Sarangadhar Das and Malati Choudhury; Local Board member for ten years; took active part in relief work during Dalaighai breach and high floods 1955; started Harijan Temple entry movement with late Gouranga Charan Das and movement for removal of untouchability and abolition of Zamindary system.
