Arrested in Dhaka, chief of the banned Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen now confesses to what India has believed for a long time – Bangladeshi terror groups run training camps actively in border districts of India.
Arrested in May this year, Maulana Saidur Rehman Jafar, head of Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen, one-time compatriot of Osama bin Laden, a veteran of the Afghan war has said they have a full-fledged terror infrastructure running in India.
Police sources in Dhaka have categorically told CNN-IBN that Saidur Rehman has confessed that: In three districts of West Bengal – Murshidabad, Malda and Nadia, Jamaatul-Mujahedin Bangladesh (JMB) is active and maintains terror training camps, there are about 100 full-time JMB cadres in these districts, the JMB recruits come from the large concentration of Ahl-e-Hadis community and Sohal Mahfuz, a Shura Member of the JMB from Bangladesh, has been infiltrated into India. He is now leading the operations inside India.
Saidur Rehman was actively involved with the radical Islamist political party - Jamaat-e-Islami.
Police in Dhaka have also found out that they were planning to carry out a major strike inside Bangladesh to eliminate top politicians
Indian intelligence sources say that the Jamaat-ul-Mujahidden was actively recruiting students from various Madrassas in the 3 districts in West Bengal, all on the Bangladesh border. The big task now is to track all of them down, which is already proving to be a tough ask.
