Awareness camp on pig swine fever was held on June19, for Changtongya sub-division, block level community at town hall.
The camp was organized by the veterinary department and sponsored by the advisory committee Changtongya Town Council.
According to an official bulletin, district veterinary officer Mokokchung, Dr. Merenba said the awareness camp was held after many pigs died in the area, due to swine fever.
He explained the ways of disposing the infected pigs to stop the spread of disease and explained the symptoms of pig swine flu and precautions to be taken to prevent the pigs from being affected by swine fever.
He was accompanied by veterinary hospital Mokokchung deputy director,
Dr. Ben Meren Jamir, Dr. Sentirenla, VAS QCP, Tuli and staff. They inspected pigs infected by swine fever at the town and village and after proper medical check up, provided free vaccines, medicines and vitamins.
