Sensitizing students on disaster management

Students and teachers of Zakiesato Memorial Higher Secondary School staging mock drill as precautionary measures for earthquake at school premises on Tuesday.

An orientation on disaster management and mock drill was organized at Zakiesato Memorial Higher Secondary School Tuesday with officers from the Civil Defence & Home Guards imparting basic necessary training to the teachers and students.
The mock drill was staged to sensitize the students and teachers and to follow precautionary measures when hit with earthquake.
The teachers and students were explained “do’s and don’ts” during natural disasters like earthquakes and what they should do when an alert is sounded for earthquake and how they should come out of their classrooms to reach safer places.
District Commandant, Zunheboto, Vikiho, who conducted the mock drill, was of the view that Zakiesato Memorial Higher Secondary School was safe for earthquakes, but as a precautionary measure, the students and teachers need to be sensitized.
He conducted two mock drills and noted the time taken to evacuate students from each classroom.
Deputy Controller, Civil Defence & District Commandant, S Rotokha Zhimo was also present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, Management of ZMHSS has expressed gratitude to Civil Defence & Home Guards for conducting the Mock Drill and imparting Disaster Management training to the school staff and students and also for conducting survey of the school.
It has especially thanked S Rotokha Zhimo, District Commandant for being present during the mock drill and Vikiho District Commandant, Zunheboto for conducting the training.
