Clarifying the news item, “DCC Kohima releases NREGA Job Cards, Household Figures” which appeared on June 19, the village council chairman and VDB secretary of Southern Angami villages said that the job cards issued by the Department of Rural Development in Southern Angami area were genuine which had been done basing on the actual number of persons who were competent to get job cards and there was no single case of excess issuance of job cards by the department.
Stating the news item to be misleading, Tsopi Livi, chairman Mima village and Zapu-O Zhasa, chairman Kigwema village in a joint press statement said that DCC Kohima NREGS Cell did not know the actual position at the grass root level and not even ascertained the actual picture of the villages.
It also stated that news item published by Sevotso Seyie and R. Paphino, chairman and secretary respectively of DCC Kohima NREGS Cell was misleading and showed the ‘narrow mindedness’ and lack of vision for development of the two leaders and were responsible for sabotaging the developmental activities that were taking place in Southern Angami area.
Cautioning the DCC Kohima NREGS Cell not to level baseless allegations upon the villages for political gain, the respective chairmen said that if the government canceled job cards to any of the card holders basing on their unreliable report, the two leaders would be held responsible.
Meanwhile, village council and VBD have urged all political parties not to raise unnecessary issues for political gain and disturb integrity of the villages.
